FAQs - Technical Questions

The word count of a Microsoft Word document can be found by clicking on Word Count in the Review tab or Tools menu. More information is available in Microsoft's guide to accessing your word count. The word count needs to be entered when you submit your document for editing services to calculate the total price.

We accept all major credit and debit cards as well as PayPal when you purchase editing services. All payment options are secure and meet PCI standards.

We accept Word documents, PDFs, PowerPoint, and text files. The cost to edit PDFs and PowerPoint files is higher than the cost to edit Microsoft Word documents and text files. Submitting a Microsoft Word document allows your editor to use Track Changes so you can see every revision that's made.

In the Comments feature in Microsoft Word, you can quickly delete comments individually (click Delete in the menu) or delete all comments at once (click Delete All Comments in Document). Comments can also be deleted one by one by right-clicking on the comment balloon and then clicking Delete Comment. Editors provide valuable information in the comments when editing your document, so reviewing the comments before removing them can be helpful.

If the Show Markup feature of Track Changes is turned off, the changes made by your editor may not be visible. To see the changes made by your editor, click on the Review tab in Microsoft Word and then click Show Markup.

If you are using a recent version of Microsoft Office and don’t want to have to click "enable editing" each time you download an edited document from Editor World, you can adjust the settings in Microsoft Word to make us a trusted site. The first way to do this is to click on File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Protected View, and uncheck Enable Protected View for files originating from the Internet.

The second method is to click on File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Trusted Locations > Add new location. This allows you to designate a folder on your computer for trusted documents from the Internet. If you don't want to enable everything, you can download only the files you trust into a specific folder and mark the folder "trusted."

Our editors use the Track Changes feature of Microsoft Word so you can see the changes made to your document. You can choose to accept all changes at one time or to review each change individually.

In recent versions of Microsoft Word, select the Review tab. Within the Track Changes section, you can choose to accept all changes at once, or to accept or reject each change individually. Within the document itself, you can right-click on individual changes to accept or reject the changes. If your editor has inserted comments, you will also need to delete those within the Comments section in the Review tab.

Your documents can only be downloaded from our secure servers. All Editor World employees and editors are required to sign a confidentiality agreement, and we can also sign any confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement you provide. You can track the status of your document and download the edited file in the Documents section of your Client Console after logging in at www.editorworld.com. In your Client Console, you can view past and current editing requests; send messages to your editor; update your account profile; submit new documents; and add credit to your account to use for editing and proofreading services in the future.

After logging in at www.editorworld.com, click on the Documents icon in your Client Console. In the Documents section, you can view the status of your document, such as whether the editor has downloaded the original file or uploaded the edited file. When the editor uploads the edited file, you will be able to download it through the Documents section of your Client Console.

Editors have the option to accept (or not accept) messages when they are unavailable for new editing service requests on any given day. By selecting the Unavailable button on the upper left-hand side of the screen at www.editorworld.com/editors, you can view editors who are currently unavailable. If an editor is accepting messages, there will be a Contact button in their profile. You must be signed in to your Editor World account to contact an editor.

Our editors use the Track Changes feature of Microsoft Word when editing .doc and .docx files, but these features are not available in other file types.
