WordPower Editing Services

I am a freelance editor with a focus on editing science documents for non-native English speakers using American, British, and Canadian English. Although I have a background in the biological/life sciences, I am familiar with editing in numerous areas, including ecology, soil science, meteorological studies, and related fields. I have edited over 800 documents and 3.6 million words.
I am comfortable with APA, AMA, Chicago, and other styles, and quick to learn in-house formats. I have formatted documents for a variety of journals and I have a good understanding of the specific items that journal editors expect prior to accepting a manuscript.
The name “WordPower” reflects the strength that a given word or phrase can provide to a document. The choice of a specific term or turn of phrase can make the difference between a reader continuing with your work or losing interest and abandoning it. I am passionate about helping writers present their work in the best possible way by maintaining readability and comprehensibility while ensuring the body of work remains pleasant to read.
I am also a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and have edited several student articles and essays, as well as formal documents for legal and government purposes. Working as a partner in an accounting firm requires a keen attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of meeting deadlines.
I consider every job as important as the next, as I realize that each client has spent time and effort creating a document that will be appropriate and engaging for their specific end user.
My previous editing jobs have given me a profound understanding and appreciation of the depth of scientific research currently being undertaken, and I feel fortunate to be given the opportunity to provide my input to further this important work.
You will receive a thoroughly edited document in a timely manner that adheres to your instructions and includes relevant comments and suggestions for improvement. I look forward to working with you.
