I have an extensive background in science and technical publishing (editing, formatting, and authoring) from employment in government (federal and state), in the private sector (oil and mining industries), and at a university. I also have experience in international freelance editing and formatting of science and other technical articles written by foreigners who seek to publish in English.
More than half of my career, I have been involved primarily in technical publishing (both physical and digital) in the sciences. As a technical publications editor, as a science coauthor, or as a small-team prepress lead, I have guided through to publication various types of scholarly information products, including government serial publications and scientific research papers sent to journals, geologic maps, internal reports, university-level laboratory manuals and on-the-job internal cross-training documents, technical abstracts, conference posters and exhibits, and slide decks.
I have two degrees (Bachelors, Geology; Masters, Basic Science) and extensive postgraduate education, including training in GIS, remote sensing, field geology, and environmental science.
I routinely have used the MS Office productivity suite, Adobe publishing software, and Oracle databases as well as many other types of software and online resources—including for organizing, archiving, and retrieving; editing/publishing and other communication; data analysis, image processing, and digital mapping.
Through my advanced degree and varied and extensive work experience, much of which has involved science publishing both as author and editor, I believe that my background dovetails well with your current needs.
